Archangel's Light by Nalini Singh
This is the latest installment in the Guild Hunter Series, a series that I started reading in 2020, that has brought me complete joy in the past year. It is a truly epic, fantasy romance (every book has an HEA/HFN) with angels, vampires, humans and other creatures that go bump in the night. I love that this series features the same characters that you as a reader become part of their found family. I am so excited about this book and if you are looking for a fantastic series, pick up the first one, Angel's Blood, and get ready for it!
All the Feels by Olivia Dade
If y'all fell in love with Spoiler Alert, like I did, and if you haven't read it, pick it up soon, this book features two characters we meet there, Alex and Laruen. It is about the fallout from Alex's actions in Spoiler Alert, and how Lauren must choose between helping him or protecting him. It doesn't help that Alex is head over heels in love with Lauren and must prove to her that she is his one and only. I love the plus size representation in Olivia Dade's books and also how she seems to peg Alex's vulnerabilities in such a sweet way. This will be a great blanket read!
These Silent Woods by Kimi Cunningham Grant
Mystery and intrigue set in the isolation of the Appalachian mountains. I only read a couple of spooky stories a year because I am a wimp and this one caught my eye. Spending a lot of time in Appalachia when I was a kid, the woods at dark terrify me even as an adult. The premise of the book is a young woman (Finch) and her father (Cooper) live in hiding in the woods and a stranger wanders into their world. Everything seems to go tipsy turvy and will Cooper finally face his demons before it is too late? That gives me chills even thinking about it. I will have to read it with the lights on.
Within These Wicked Walls by Lauren Blackwood
An Ethiopian-inspired fantasy retelling of Jane Eyre. I don't think I have saved something to my must-buy list fast enough. The story looks delightful with a gothic horror story where the main character, Andromeda, is an exorcist hired to cleanse a house but develops a connection with Magnus Rochester. Will she be able to save him in the end?

I Hope This Finds You Well: Poems by Kate Baer
Kate is one of my favorite follows on Instagram, regularly taking DMs from horrible men and turning them into gorgeous gut punchy short poems. Her first collection, what kind of woman, was wonderful, and I’m expecting the same from this follow up!
Dust & Grim by Chuck Wendig (middle grade)
Rival siblings running a monster mortuary? That’s all I need to know to be interested, but when it’s authored by Chuck I am all in on that preorder. A fantastic human and deft author, I’m ready for this (and spooky szn in general).

I absolutely judged this book by its cover and have it on my TBR for spooky season. The blurb describes it as a "gorgeously creepy haunted house tale, steeped in Japanese folklore and full of devastating twists."

Becoming Abolitionists by Derecka Purnell
A world without cops and jails and prisons is the world we need to be working towards and Derecka Purrnell's Atlantic article is incredible, I can't wait to read her forthcoming book.

As a big fan of Maggie's podcast work and previous publications, I was automatically excited about her upcoming graphic novel debut. This feminist high school creature feature did NOT disappoint. Mean Girls meets Teen Wolf in this gorgeous coming of age story of friendship, with a supernatural (and murderous) twist. I cannot wait to see the full-color edition when it drops in October!
House Fires by Connor Franta
If his previous books are anything to judge by, this new release from Connor Franta is bound to be wonderfully artistic, deeply insightful, and beautifully open-hearted. His work is a fantastic addition to any memoir lover’s TBR and bookshelf.
