Book Love 2021

The Holiday season is here, and we are running a promotion to give back to our community through our charitable giving program- Book Love! From Tuesday, November 30th through Tuesday, December 7th, at both Old Town Books and Old Town Books Junior, we will be holding book drives.

What exactly is Book Love?

Book Love is our charitable giving program that provides care packages and books to those in our community who need them the most. The program was created in 2020 during the pandemic. Schools and libraries were closed, meaning access to books from these institutions became limited. That’s where we came in, working with organizations to provide members of our community with care packages, and we have continued doing so since!

If you are interested in donating, here’s how:

When you shop in-store and buy a book to donate, you will receive a 20% discount on your purchase! We will match your donation with a book from our shelves as well. Want to get some holiday shopping done while also donating to a great cause? We will have swag bags available! They make a great stocking stuffer, and you will be donating to Book Love through your purchase. If you are unable to make it into one of our stores, don’t worry! You can also donate through an online order. Be sure to mention that your purchase is going towards the book drive in the comment section of the checkout page.

Where is your donation going to?

The book drive at our Royal Street location will be benefitting Alexandria City's Domestic Violence Shelter. The shelter offers emergency housing, food, and counseling for women and children who are domestic violence survivors. This drive is dedicated to, and in memory of, Christine Pearson who was a counselor for domestic violence survivors.

The book drive at Old Town Books Junior will be benefitting the Campagna Center’s Wright to Read program. Wright to Read is a volunteer-based, one-on-one, literacy tutoring and mentoring program for elementary school children.

Thank you to our amazing customers who have helped us make Book Love possible and thank you to Kinneman Insurance for helping us reach our goal.
