An Announcement on Emerging Writers Festival 2020

Thank you all for your support of our Emerging Writers Festival. After careful consideration and extensive exploration into a variety of setups to make the festival viable for August 2020, we have decided that the best course of action for our store and our community is to not hold the Emerging Writers Festival this year.

We will miss engaging with you all this year on this festival, but we know that this is the right decision for our community. While Virginia restrictions permit a gathering of the size of the Emerging Writers Festival, many of the authors travel to us from other areas around the United States and we prefer to encourage everyone to stay safe and social distance in their own homes. Although we considered holding a virtual version of this festival, it ultimately would not create the community and exchange of ideas that we hoped to facilitate in person.

We are so grateful for the outpour of support for Old Town Books through this pandemic, and we look forward to the day when it is safe for us all to gather again. This is not the end of the Emerging Writers Festival, just a pause.

While we may not be having our in-person, three-day festival this year, we are reading and meeting online all of August! Join us at one of our upcoming events this August for your fill of all things Old Town Books!
